Almost there
by Emma Bates Brennan

There is you and her together,
but why, if you like me so much?
Questions fill both of our minds,
seeing you, my heart is touched.

Maybe I should step out,
let you both just be one.
We are almost together,
you & me is so much fun.

Your feelings grow stronger,
inside I know mine do too.
and yet there is a wall between us,
there is nothing I can do.

Feelings, thoughts, ideas all over,
rights and wrongs are lost.
I must get out, must fight,
this idea has to be tossed.

I'm thinking straight now,
we'll be friends, and the rest is cut.
I know I still have strong feelings,
but my mouth is tightly shut.
