by James  Walters

Should I ever whisper
The secrets I have held;
Regrets and smiles that linger
Like echoes of a bell
Tolling ever slower
From a distant spire;
Haunting chimes that hypnotize
As flickers of a fire.
Should I ever tell you
Of hopes I've never shared,
Of dreams I never realized
Because I never dared
To open those dark portals
And let another see
The secrets that I harbor;
The secret that is me.
