The Apple
by Christopher P Rouse

If Adam had not eaten the apple
and man lived in Eden
I would still have met you.

Adam did eat the apple
and was cast out to mourn
for he had lost his beautiful garden.

But through your love,
I, among all men since Adam,
have paradise within my grasp.
