A Band of Gold
by Nancy Sue Yvonne Baldridge

So many stories, so many lies
Were told to keep us apart.
They tore you right out of my life
But they left you in my heart.

Memories are all I have now
Of the life we shared together.
They keep you alive in my heart
Where you will be mine forever.

That's how I get through, day by day,
Without you by my side.
If it wasn't for our memories
I know I would have died.

I know, as time goes by,
My heart will start to mend;
I'll find someone to take your place
And I'll learn to love again.

But, until that day there's a band of gold
That will remain upon my hand
As a reminder you once loved me
Not just as a lover, but also as my friend.
