The People's Princess
by Mick  Goodson

A swirling mist now blurs our eyes
pouring weight on heavy hearts,
for your sweet face no more we see
though dawning day did start.

Beyond these shores of sadness
over leagues of weary sea,
many spirits fly upon the wind
to share once more with thee.

Such hope you did bestow -
for Humanity was your gift,
as benevolence walked beside you
countless souls you did uplift,

For who shall carry your mantle
to share with those in need,
or give their heart so tenderly
without favor or greed.

We shall miss you- so very much,
for you showed our better side,
the part we will always remember
with such gratitude and pride.

So look down and smile on us -
as there lingers a cold emptiness,
that no one can ever replace
for you were... the peoples Princess.
