It's midnight
as I turn out the light.
I close my eyes,
   yet, I see you.
Why do I still feel the way I do?

I held onto the tears
   when you left...
You didn't see them,
   as I wept.

I don't know how long
I can go on like this
      pretending my world didn't end
When it's you I miss...

It's hard to hold back the tears
      overflowing in my heart
But harder to stop them at night
      when my control falls apart.

I look out the window
      nothing but darkness I see...
         But that is nothing
      compared to the emptiness
         within me....
