Wanderings

By: Wayne Gordon Deweese

I rise on the wings of the dawn
and travel down the abandoned road,
chasing after my long lost dreams,
looking for love in the everlasting cold.

In the night I laugh at the moon;
in the morning I cry for the sun.
I know she is hiding out there, somewhere.
In the day it's with the shadows I run...

Dreams are a vision buried deep within my soul;
life is the story I follow.
Nightmares are the voice inside me;
truth is the serum I swallow.

Now she calls to me in the darkness
as sleep slowly invades my eyes.
My mind wanders aimlessly onward
as the time in my life quickly flies.
