Dear Friend
To you, dear friend, confidante too!
I pen this small missive
once promised to you.
Your friendship, your kindness
have done me much good.
I'm indebted to you as I am to my blood.
The help, consolation, advice, dearest heart,
aid me so often
when I need a fresh start.
To you I'm indebted, eternally so!
Please accept salutation
deserved more than you know.
As a poet, I have an illiterate past
yet, in friendship, I offer
a friendship to last.
