One Kiss

By: Sylvia Leigh

To kiss your lips but once,
Would be to rediscover Eden.

Quiet,
Untouched by human hand,
Yet fashioned by God Himself...
For you
And I,
In this moment of time.

Vibrant, virgin blossoms
Of luscious ripened fruits
Cascading 'round limb and vine,

Each lending their fragrance
To this, -
Our forbidden enchantment.

'Twould be unthinkable
To taste but one kiss,
Without
I long to devour
Each and every magnificent bloom.

Such sweet rapture
Would
In itself demand
That heaven and earth
Stand still.

Alas, it cannot be.

No, my love.
I would not,
Could not...
Kiss you but once.
