My Jar
If I could put some things in a jar,
Maybe you would not seem so far.
The sound of your voice, the warmth of your smile,
Your patience, your kindness, your 'altogether' style.
I will always remember the smell of your skin,
And your big brown eyes that speak from within.
From inside my jar I would hear your laughter,
And feel your heartbeat, before and after.
My tears would join yours during rainy weather,
To remind me of the times when we'd cry together.
I would send out a prayer to guide your way,
So you can safely return someday.
Upon your return, I'd get rid of my jar,
Because then you'd be near and no longer far.
