A Rainy Day

By: Thomas Pierre Lemont

The rain is gently falling
the birds are softly calling
The day is slowly crawling
As I begin this simple scrawling.

The sky is now overcast
My intent is still steadfast
as I look ahead at last
and I push behind the past.

You bring color to the world
as a flags beauty, unfurled
or as a necklace, pearled
or a chocolate sundae, swirled.

You make the day seem sunny
with our talks, and jokes- funny
You're the Lady, I'm the Marquis
In the land of milk and honey.

The day is still fresh and new
whether sky is grey or blue
It's all from your point of view
It's because.. I'm here with you.
