If

By: Dave Gale Haines, Jr.

If I were a turkey, you'd be the stuffing,
on a glorious Thanksgiving day.
If I were ill, you'd be the medicine,
that'd take all my pain away.
If I were a tree, you'd be the leaves,
blowing in the wind, enveloping me.
If I were a rose, you'd be the petals,
red and beautiful for all to see.
If I were a creek, you'd be the water,
flowing, oh so free.
If I were the sky, you'd be the stars,
shining bright and heavenly.
If I were gone, you'd still be,
the loving lady I once knew.
And I...
I'd be the calm summer breeze,
blowing gently through your hair.
I'd be the memories of what once was,
reminding you of the love we've shared.
I'd be wonderful thoughts you think,
to get you through each day.
I'd be the medicine for your sickness,
and take all your pain away.
I'd be everything you want,
and everything you need,
