My Heart
by Linda Anne
You said that I was spoken for
You stole my heart that day
Then you threw it back at me
In such an awful way

I thought that we were special
That you meant those words you said
But you started saying different words
And I listened deep, with dread

You said there was no room for me
We needed to be apart
You didn't have the time for me
You had to break my heart

How quickly you got over me
Half a couple, you were again
I sat and watched you fall for her
And tried to be your friend

I can't say it was easy
I admit I loved you still
I guess I will never understand
Why of me, you'd had your fill

I have learned that I can fill my days
With happiness and smiles
That love can come in many forms
And can travel 'cross the miles

The place where my heart used to be
Is empty now, it's true
For I no longer have a heart
It still belongs to you
