The Ghost
by BrianEarlCox
This can't go on another moment,
the truth, it must be told.
I sacrificed my only care...
your love I took and sold.

Call it selfish, call it greed,
forever I'll be alone
with the thought of what might have been,
if only faith I'd shown.

The nights are long, my days spent here
reading letters- I never sent.
The ghost of love, it walks these halls,
it's yearning- never spent.

To only hold you close again,
and look into your eyes.
I'd say the things I should have said,
and take back all the lies.

But now you're gone, and in your place,
is the lonely bitter pain,
of the love I had and gave away,
and a ghost... who has your name.
