Love Me Not (sonnet)
by Laura J Wilson
Love me not for skin so smooth to the touch
And never say that I miss you too much.
Care for me not just because I say so
And when I tell you to, please turn and go.
Honour me not for being a success
Nor for never seeming to love you less.
Envy me not for my assets and goods.
Try not to hide behind sweaters and hoods.
Trust me not just because you think I'm right
And if I am wrong, please put up a fight.
Remember me not by a sunflower
Or as your princess, up in a tower.
Think of me not as some girl that you seek
Nor a sweet gentle kiss, left on your cheek.
