In Autumn
by James  Walters

A valley graced in brilliant gold,
The sapphire of September,
A rainbow mirrored in a stream
In autumn, I remember
A mountain bleeding crimson red,
The opal of October,
The pumpkins' smiles and crackling air
In autumn, I remember
The shadows crisp on azure days,
The topaz of November,
The towering corn and sunsets' orange
In autumn, I remember
The fragrance of her auburn hair,
The ache of deep surrender
To love I found in her embrace
That autumn, I remember.
