Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting
by Dawn Marie
We had a wonderful relationship... until it ended. He was my everything. He helped me and changed my life in so many ways and I'm really thankful for that.
I wrote him a letter telling him I was sorry, but he never responded. To this day, he hasn't told me why we even broke up. Although I was hurt for so long, I forgave him. I told him how I felt. I felt like he gave up on me when he said he wouldn't.
I forgave him because I'd said that I would do anything for him, even if it meant getting over him and forgiving him. One of the LovePoetry poems that I think helped me is Thank You by Cute Baby Doll because I have had so many good times with him, and no matter what, I'm still going to love him, even as just a friend. Over time, I've learned to forgive, but I know I'll never forget him.
I don't think it was my decision to get over him. I didn't want to, but I knew I had to. It's been a year and I'm finally over him. After a long time of believing I couldn't make it without him, someone came along and it's great.
My advice for others: You can't look too hard for love; just wait and you'll find it. Don't rush into a relationship. People tend to say, "I love you," way too fast and there's no need for that. Make sure it feels right. You can say over and over how much you love someone and you will never let them go. It doesn't always end up that way though. You have to be prepared. Someone can break your heart, but the key word is trust. You have to trust that they wont hurt you but don't think they can't. Just make sure you dream big and reach for the stars 'cause one day your going to find that one special person. ctually ive waited a year im finally over my ex and after so long of saying i couldnt make it someone came along and it great.
