Best friend now gone
April was my best friend in elementary school. We had known each other since about 2nd or 3rd grade. We were pretty close until middle school.
She was in a car with her brother the day school started, our 8th grade year. They turned a corner too fast on a wet road and hit another vehicle and she died, but her brother was okay!
I wish I could tell her how sorry I am for not talking to her for so many years. I now know that the simple, “Hey!” in the hallway just doesn't cut it! I saw her in the hallway that morning and I said “Hey!” but not “Good-bye!”
My friends and family were there for me when she died. They told me she was in a better place and that she was happier now because people weren't laughing at her anymore. They said she was just another angel in the sky!
The LovePoetry poem Miss you by Heather Marie Yarbroough helped me through my grief. It’s been a year now, and I'm doin’ okay with it, but it still hurts to think that I could have stopped talking to such a great friend!
Just remember when you have a great friend like April was to me, never let go of them. Always let them know how dear they are to you because you never know when the last time you’ll see them will be or if the last fight you had will be the last thing you say to them before they die!
