Missing My Army Brother
My brother, who is 4 years older than me told me that he had joined the Army. It was a little over a month before he left when he told me. I had always been close to him. He was the one I went to if anything was wrong. I didn't know what I was going to do or what I was going to say to him.
I was on LovePoetry.com one day, looking at poems I could give to him or read to him before he left. Then I found Brother by Kayleigh Adams. It showed me that I wasn't the only person whose brother was leaving the house. I sent the poem to him and he read it and after he did, he gave me a hug and told me he would miss me too.
When he left, I did say goodbye, but when I hugged him I had to leave so fast because I didn't want him to see me cry. I will never forget that day. I haven't seen my brother for almost 2 months now and it will be December before I do get to actually see him. Our relationship is stronger, now than ever. We write to each other and the last words of the letters are "I love you." We have never actually told each other that until now.
If you have a loved one who is leaving or even if they are not leaving, make sure they know that you love them because it will make a difference in the closeness between you and that person.
