Letter to Love
by Felicia Marlena Lear

Dear Love, once you were my exhilaration,
For I once knew you and your claims
When you were my inspiration,
Always involved in your cruel games.

I knew just how to use you, Love.
You helped me hurt those who hurt me.
No longer am I above you, Love.
I thought I could trust you, see?

But now you pull me left to right,
I ask, what did I do to you?
Played you as a joke, something light.
Now I seek you, that you might be true.

What I felt for you, you once were.
Now I loathe you, I hate you so.
The people say "Dear God, what has Love done to her?"
Love, you're now my foe.

Please, Love, where is our friendship?
Too deep I've fallen into you.
The harsh rules of your evil trip,
At the same time you can't love two.

Now, Love, to you I say "farewell"
Again I must put up my mask.
Love, your secrets I will not tell.
Good-bye, my dear friend, I won't ask.
