Teddy Bear
by Bob Dean Brokaw

I wish you were a teddy bear,
that I could call my own.
I'd always have you around me,
and never, never be alone.

I'd hold you in my arms,
and sing my songs to you.
Maybe just sit quiet,
if that's what you want to do.

And though you cannot tell me,
your feelings you cannot show.
Just stay here beside me,
those things I'll always know.

I'll try to make you happy,
but what's happy to a bear ?
Maybe just knowing,
I love you and care.

And when the night comes,
and it's time to rest my head.
It's nice to have that feeling,
with you there in my bed.

But, since you're not a teddy bear,
rather a person alive and true.
I have to use this substitute,
to take the place of YOU.
