Two Streams, One River
by Nigel R Worthington
One small and gentle stream flows slowly
but is broken up by rocks and earth
its direction altered and changed
twisted this way and that
until it no longer has direction
A larger and more powerful stream flows next to it
and, as if sensing the others need
bursts its banks and becomes one with the other
Two streams now flow as one
They meet in a crashing wave of intense emotions
and rush with greater strength toward the future
Earth is swept aside and ground to sand
rocks are overcome as the river runs deep
The two run like lovers hand in hand
Where one ends or begins none can tell
they rise up in each other's arms
and tears are left behind in their foam
Cutting into the land they forge their own direction
relentless and unstoppable is their new found strength
sometimes slowing to chisel away at the banks
but always overcoming, always urging each other on
One lifting the other to new heights
comforting when the river bends
flowing together in an intense relationsahip
a rush they hope will never end
Nothing can separate the two now
Should the river be split
some part of the other shall remain
Nothing can take one from the other
till both cease to flow
FOR THIS IS LOVE
