Grand-dad
by Joyce Ann Osborn

Why did you believe me
I gave no proof to you
You only took one look at him
and somehow you just knew

What was it about him
I do not understand
Within minutes after being told
you took him by the hand

Was it his hair, his smile
Or maybe even his eyes
You never thought for a moment
That I could be stating lies

Why did you believe me
Proof, you never had
It's like your heart just told you
That you are his grand-dad
