Love Me, She Said
by Natalia M Smith

I heard her crying softly,
In the corner of my mind.
She was in my house
In the middle of the night.

She was sitting by herself
Beside the shadowed wall.
"Love me," was written on it,
In a messy, bloody scrawl.

Then I saw her face,
Teary, bloodied, bruised.
Aware of her damaged wrists,
This girl was self-abused.

And she looked me in the eye.
She was cold as stone.
She stole my breath away,
The way her body shone.

"Love me, won't you please?"
She whispered in my ear.
Her nails had dug into my veins.
And I had shed a tear.

Then she moved ever so swiftly.
And kissed me on the cheek.
"Love me, won't you please?"
I was feeling weak.

And she started crying.
Her tears rolled from my eyes.
Then she started talking.
I rephrased all of the lies.

She handed me a rose,
That had pricked my thumb.
She had shed my blood.
I was feeling numb.

"Love me, won't you please.
You know that I am here.
Don't ignore me, won't you please,
You know I'm always near."

And with that she had closed her eyes.
She dissapeared into the night.
I still feel her deep inside,
When I'm depressed, not feeling right.
