For You
by Catinea Marsali Reeves

For you, I?d give up lifetimes of eternity
But only if you promise me stability
For you, I?d stand in the midst of a hurricane
But only if you?d shelter me from its rain
For you, I would paint the limitless skies
But only if it would be pleasing to your eyes
For you, I would walk through the deepest valley
But only if you would walk with me
(I?d need your company)
For you, I would sail the boundless seas
But only if you would be my gentle breeze
For you, I?d laugh in the face of any storm
But only if you?d be there after to keep me warm
For you, I?d venture the deepest, darkest caves
But only if you?re there to keep me brave
For you, I?d climb Mt. Everest in a day
But only if you?d meet me half way
For you, I would shout down the howling winds
But only if you?d be there when it all begins
For you, I would devote my total loyalty
But only if you promise me honesty
For you, I would walk around the world and back
But only if you?d help me pack
For you, I?d defy everything in God?s plan
But only if you?d stand by me as my man
And for you, and only you, would I risk my life
But only if one day, I could stand by you as your wife
