Eventually
by Sherry Lynn Anderson
I knew it wasn't going to last,
I could tell it in your kiss.
I like you more now than I did then,
And you, I'm always going to miss.
You weren't the greatest boyfriend,
But you were always there for me.
There were those couple measly hits,
But the pain you did not see.
I loved the way your hair looked,
When you'd just get out of bed.
And you dressed without a care in the world,
Never looked down, always straight ahead.
I loved the times we'd ditch together,
And the first kiss that we shared.
You were the one who grabbed my hand,
Just to show me that you cared.
We started to drift away,
And there was nothing I could do.
But then you said it's over,
Now I'll spend my days trying to get over you.
Dedicated to D.E.C., John Boy.
