Final Verdict
by Megan Lynn Robertson

final verdict:
    just friends...

we've walked the road
and now, we are beginning again.
we crossed the line
and trespassed on foreign grounds.

silent pain has soaked its way through hearts
unknown of what they were about to lose.
two people, once- for a moment- right
one let go,
while the other held on too long and too tight.

so you leave me here
where I am safe,
still holding you, dear,
as our hearts go their separate ways...

vowing friendship of a special kind
    and smiling towards tomorrow
