Speak Not the Words
by Thomas Lee Rhymes
Speak not the words, "My Love"
when thou hast seen my face
when thou hast reached my side
within this quiet place
Breathe not, with tender sigh
the words I could not bear
as Time, could not, the wound
upon my heart repair
Speak not the words, "My Love"
when thou look upon me today
within this soft-silk cask
whereon my body lay
Those are not the words
one speaks in reverent tones
to one who died for Love
to one who died Alone
Instead - speak not at all
as you gaze from above,
brush my hair or touch my face
but - speak not the words,
"My Love"
