My Phantom Lover
by Daphne Ellen Rankin
Like tumbleweed on a dark windswept highway,
You dart through my thoughts.
I feel the danger, sense the power,
The power that is you,
Beckoning to me like a searchlight in the fog.
I try to fight this yearning, this burning inside.
Thoughts of you ignite the fire in me.
Fire that smolders and heats my soul.
You are a dark desire, consuming my sanity.
I fight this need with every ounce of resistance.
Your phantom touch, your gossamer lips,
Are like embers radiating in my concsiousness.
Setting ablaze again, deep inside me.
I cease to resist, I must give in to the passion.
I reach for you....
