Maybe
by Mary Elizabeth Blessing

So maybe I stepped off the side of a cliff
and your the ledge I landed on
You're steady but there isn't much of you
     You belong to the mountain
And I only stand next to you
     for short periods of time
Trying to hold on
     knowing I should let go
But the fall is long
     the landing hard

To stay I risk being caught standing so close
To leave... I lose you
