Rushing
by Kenneth Ray Carmichael

i cannot proclaim my love for thee in a thousand speeches
i cannot show you... no matter how wide my arm reaches
i cannot kiss you enough times or write enough rhyming lines
to ever prove to you how deep and sincere i really am

someday i hope you will at least try to understand
that i can't love you enough... each day i try to outdo the other
it's like all the moments i spend with you are competing with one another
i feel as though i am rushing to love you and i'm over-anxious

i find myself racing a mile a minute with my feet staying still
i can truly say that my heart hath no more spaces to be filled
it is consumed by you and only you, from wall to wall
and only in my wildest dreams... could i ever deserve it all
