Been quite a while since I last saw her
  I wonder how her life has been
Mine's been long, both good and bad
  That's what a lifetime often is

Wish she were here to see me
  How the young man she knew has grown

Memories of the past still haunt me
 They come to me in the night
That dream of us together lingers
 the one where she is my wife

The depths to which I've traveled
 My heart feeling like a stone
The true love that left me
 That pain I now call home

It travels with me always
 We're never far apart
The winds of change, they don't affect it
 When a love comes from the heart

I saw it in her eyes so clear
  The night she left me
There was a love inside of them
  Yearning to be free

They closed on me so quickly

To show her how right she was

If only I had met her
