A Secret Fear
by Megan Maria Brooks Verheyden

When love is gone, when you can feel it no more,
Is the day your mind and heart are at war.

When it conquers your life, and leaves you alone,
You lie in bed and in pain you moan.

Pain of the heart, memories you've shared,
The thought that at one time he actually cared.

Hell has risen, bliss is gone,
Love has lost, pain has won.

With your heart in pain, you shut yourself down.
Outside's a smile, inside's a frown.

The night you vow- "Love is fear, a chance I just can't take,
please be a dream that lets me awake."
