Daisies in your hair
by Austin Frank Bacchus

Perhaps in another time,
I would have truly fought with steel
for your love
and battled scaly dragons
for a moment of your smile.

In another place,
the geese on the lake
would have watched us kiss in silence,
and the crickets
would have praised our love
with joyous songs.

That era, long gone by,
of capes and swords,
of chivalry and romance,
what a wonderful moment for us
it would have been!
It is a moment which we never lived,
but which I will never forget.

Never forget the wet grass on your bare feet.
Never forget the glisten of unshed tears in your eyes.
Never forget the bittersweet pain of love and distance.

And never forget the daisies in your hair.
