O Rapunzel
by Remember Love
Now, dusty as I have become... there is little of silence
and laughter that I do not know well
familiar
...like the little red socks I slip into
as I slip out of
the pretence and sophistication of my boots
so too are you...
familiar
and Silence
...ah and O you have known it all too well
In the night it is your bed fellow
and in the days and long years you wear it like a wet dress
salted by the ocean and clinging to your thighs
in fact I think you smell of loneliness.... damp and sea weedy
and oceanic
Ahhh but you are so lovely there in your ivory castle
It?s windows of sterility sparkle against
the twinkling blue of ocean and skips of sunlight
That is how I think of you
...captive
held in a high white mossed dank tower refusing
to let down your hair for me to climb
O beloved Rapunzel your name becomes you
