Stupid Girl
by Cheryl Marie Keck

I gave my heart to you,
I am sorry you were not aware.
I gave it to you quietly,
my heart.
It is beating in your hands,
So peacefully.
You did not claim it,
You did not know it was yours.

Now I cry for you at night,
You are unknowing that I do.
My chest aches, an empty hole,
Where my heart used to sit.
A stupid girl,
That's what I am.
A stupid girl,
who has nothing to give, but her heart.

If you won't hold it close,
I understand.
Please return my heart to me,
Before it gets cold.
You never mislead me,
not once.
But a stupid girl,
Can't control her feelings.

A stupid girl,
That's all I am.
And as for love,
I didn't love you, not yet.
You never let me love you,
Not yet.
Maybe one day,
I can give you my heart again.
Maybe on that day,
You will ask for it back.
