My Life and My Love
by Robert G. Pelletier
When you?re older and thinking you?ll never be younger,
You look around and think with a burning hunger,
That there has to be something to see, someone to be,
Someone who?s going to love me for being me.
I look back at the life to which I lived.
Is there something I could have done?
The choices that were made- filled with regret,
I sleep every night wishing to forget.
I grew to fear the unknown that never was,
That monster that lurked behind every cause.
The childhood that felt empty without love,
My father who I would never be proud of.
I wanted to be, like my mom was to me,
A good strong branch of the family tree.
Caring, loving, unselfishness was her personality,
Even to this day it's part of her immortality.
My love for my girls will never wander or leave,
It started from the day I choose to conceive.
From baby to toddler to full grown adult,
The love I give them will always be felt.
I must believe in the things that have not been,
To the love you feel that scares you within.
'Cause this love it is real and never been fake,
The happiness it brings like to a little cupcake.
I wish you could feel what I have felt with you,
The love that was unlocked all because of whom,
I am thankful for all that has been and not,
For I know that my love for you will never stop.
