No more scars to break this heart
by David William Gore
Please don?t look at me
With your beautiful eyes so full of love
Please don?t take my hands so warmly into yours to hold,
Don?t make my heart feel so full that it?s ready to break
For I cannot give my love to you.
Too many times it has been so hurt
That the scars will never heal,
The pain felt with each kiss of your lips as they brush mine,
Like I have never felt before,
The warmth of your tears that sparkle in your eyes
As they mingle with the softness of your kiss on mine.
How many times must I give all of myself,
Just to carve another scar into this heart?
My heart gives of itself asking for just a little love in return,
So, I must leave before I change my mind
For I feel it starting once more
To fall again for a love that can only end in pain.
My heart is crying deep inside
As I start to walk away from your tears
That flow so freely from those eyes, so blue
And the words it hears you say,
Each word of your love hurts so deep
That the scars they open bleed freely
Hurting as each drop is draining the very life from within.
No more scars to break this heart,
No more tears to fool this heart inside,
No more softness that can brush against my lips
To add yet another scar to this troubled heart.
No more love, no more pain,
And with each drop bleeding from my heart
...no more you.
