Safely Home
by Renee Lynn Gill
I am not opposed to being wrong
Since I know that I have been wrong
Much more than I have been right.
I am not afraid to stand for things I believe in
Though at times I understand
The struggle may be a fight.
I have been broken, battered and blue
Thrown opportunities into the wind
Like many more would come my way
I have used my heardened heart to guide me through
Still that didn't mean I was not afraid.
If I don't fall
If I don't bend
If I don't break once in a while
Guess I never would appreciate...
Standing in the sun
Dancing in the rain
Lying in the sand
And counting stars,
praying i could be there where you are.
Funny thing about love
Funny thing about the heart,
Connections are the start of who we are
And who we've grown to be.
Though our lives have taken us apart
I hope you'll always see
I keep the part of us I love
All these years so far
Safely home here in my heart
Safely home right here inside of me.
