My dear mother,

you may not see what you truly mean to me.

You have showed me right from wrong,

caressed my sleep with your songs.

You healed my wounds,

both emotional and physical.

You showed me love,

no one ever dreamed of.

You opened my eyes to this world,

and led me through its bumps and turns.

You taught me tenderness, love, pain, 

loss, success, and responsibility.

And now, sadly, I must take in reality,

that one day you will leave this earth,

and leave me here alone...

and even though I may fall to earth's night,

you will shine upon me with heaven's light.

I will still see your face in perfect detail,

and with that your teachings shall never fail.

Mournful tears shall not graze my cheeks,

but tears of joy that you have blessed me with this life.

My dear mother,

you are and will always be my mentor...

and for that I thank you.
