The Pain of a First Love
by allison cherie duhon
When I saw you today
My heart fell to the floor
My head got kind of light
When you knocked softly at my door

I thought I should stay hidden
From your sight forevermore
I thought being out of your life
Would keep my heart from being sore

I went to the window
I gave you a glance
I thought for a second
That I would give you a chance

I listened to you so clearly
I heard every word you said
I quickly wiped my eyes
Cleaning the tears that I had shed

I sadly looked at you
And I finally came to see
The only thing you would do
Is bring loads of hurt upon me

We finally said our goodbyes
And I slowly turned away
I told you I didn't need you
And that you had to go away

I know you're somewhere out there
Please know that to this day
Even though we only hurt each other
I will always love you in every way

to chris stewart
love, allie
