untitled
by Liz Lazar
How could you not love me?
How could you bring it upon yourself to promise me life
and drop me half way through the door?
How could you say you love me?
While inside your heart, it promises to be cold.
How could you scream, "I don't care?"
As my tears form, the puddle of my life melting away.
How could you promise to love me?
To form into the union of hell, that you bore innocence into.
How can you wipe away tears with the same hand
which broke a heart?
How can you smile at me with eyes which held, your hate?
Kiss my forehead with the contempt of such routine
bury my dreams, burn away such a memory...
Innocence lost to youth and you ask, how I stand.
How is it possible to apologize with no meaning?
Love with no meaning of the heart.
Scream out to the unhappiness you can't control
and as it leaves your hand, you smile with the thought
of hell in a bottle of liquid and life.
How could you claim to give me... it all?
It's only your love you can't spare.
Enter into a world alone, into the dark.
Promises don't melt me away and your heart can't
beat with feeling...
A passion to life and a pity to hell
and you wonder to say... I'll stand by.
